Frequently Asked Questions
We have tried to address the questions most commonly asked by our customers. If you don’t see your question or want to discuss an issue further, please call our office. We’ll do our best to assist you.
How long does it take before my order arrives?
Most orders are available for pick-up in a matter of days; special orders can take up to 6 weeks)
When can my job begin?
We start our jobs on a first-come-first-serve basis. We will stay with your project until your painting or flooring installation is completed. The same crew leader will work on your project from start to finish.
Who does your painting and flooring installation?
We have a staff of full-time painters as well as several trusted flooring subcontractors. Each of our Lead Painters manages a crew of one or two painters. Every crew has a Crew Leader who will conduct daily inspections of your project.
Who will supervise the job?
Supervision and quality control are very important to us. Our fully trained, knowledgeable crew leaders are on site during your job and owner Elias Ploutis is always available to check on each and every job.
Do you have references?
Yes, our references are available upon request. Our reputation means everything to us, which is why we have a thorough new-hire screening process, including a detailed background check.
What kind of paint do you use?
We prefer Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore or Glidden paint products. Sometimes customer preference, the nature of the job and other factors warrant other brands. Whatever brand we use, we make certain it’s the best the manufacturer offers and is appropriate for your project.
Are your painters fully insured?
Our insurance includes general business coverage, with General Liability, Bonding and Worker’s Compensation policies.
Can you help with other things besides painting, like wall and ceiling repairs, tiling or carpentry?
We have the capability to do light carpentry, drywall repair and wood replacement when required. Also, we can do tile repair, grouting and caulking. We’re able to do gutter cleaning and pressure washing if needed.
I’ve had bids that are high, low and all over the place. Why?
The level of thoroughness, attention to detail, and quality desired, usually determines the cost of your job. It costs more to properly prepare a surface for painting than to give it a quick coat of paint. It takes more time and resources to properly prepare a room before installing a new floor than it does to just cover up the old floor. We are happy to review, in detail, our calculations for your project so you can make a fair comparison with other bids.
What’s the difference between a good paint job and a poor one?
Proper preparation is important and preparation takes time. A good paint job also requires extensive knowledge of different painting techniques and materials, and the skill and commitment to go with it.
Do you have a warranty?
Yes, we provide a two-year limited warranty on most work. Please review our Terms and Conditions.
What size and type jobs do you specialize in?
Endecca Painting & Flooring is equipped to handle nearly any size project whether it’s your home’s dining room, exterior siding and windows or an entire hotel. Every project receives our dedicated attention to detail from start to finish.
Does someone have to remain at home or on site while the painting is being done?
No. We normally arrive on the job before you leave for work or we can make arrangements to pick up a key ahead of time. We stand behind the integrity of our employees and subcontractors. We have never had a problem when it comes to the trustworthiness of our painters and flooring contractors. We will respect your home or place of business as we would if you were there. However, we realize that many people are uncomfortable with leaving workers in their house unattended. We understand this hesitancy and are not offended by that. We will work with your schedule whenever possible.
What do I have to do in order to get ready for the painters?
We expect to handle everything ourselves when we arrive to paint your home. We will move your furniture into the middle of the room. We will carefully cover your furniture and protect floors with drop cloths during painting. The only items we ask you to remove are knick- knacks, pictures and window treatments. Upon completion of the painting project, we will replace all furniture to its original position.
What kind of surface preparation is done?
Preparation is a major part of your painting investment and we want to exceed your expectations. We can do as much or as little preparation as you like. There are some preparation steps that we will not skip:
- All exterior surfaces will be washed and peeling areas will be scraped.
- All interior surfaces will have adjacent surfaces protected and necessary steps taken to ensure adhesion.
- We also offer sanding for peeling edges and caulking as needed.
- All preparation recommendations will be discussed with you at the time of your estimate.
How many workers will be in my home?
While every painting and flooring project is different, normally you may expect a crew of two or three painters or flooring installers.
How do I get an estimate?
You may request an estimate by calling us at 219.942.4014 or by emailing. If you email, we will call you to arrange a convenient time to meet. We usually schedule estimates between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Limited night and weekend appointments available upon request; we may also arrange to meet you early in the morning.
I have some cracks that always reappear. Is there anything you can do?
Cracks can always be repaired but regardless of the preparation some may naturally reappear over time. Building foundations settle, wood expands and contracts with the seasons and humidity levels. Paint and patching compounds cannot hold two surfaces together; however, we will do our best to give you a longer lasting repair.
We have drywall damage… Do we need to have that repaired before the painters come?
Our painters are experienced in drywall repair and replacement. Any repairs that need to be made can be done as part of the preparation work we do prior to painting.
How long should I wait before cleaning my windows after painting?
We recommend waiting 30 days before allowing any cleaning agents to come in contact with the new paint. Most paints dry to the touch in a few hours, but will take much longer to completely cure.
What can I do with leftover paint from prior years?
It’s a good idea to save leftover paint for touch up if needed. You may never need to use it, but a wall might get damaged or you may need to make a repair because of a water leak. Paint stored in a climate-controlled space will stay fresh in a well-sealed can for many years. It can also serve as your record for which colors and brands were previously used in specific areas.
How do I select my colors?
We suggest you visit our showroom and pick up a variety of color chips. Take them home, leave them out and look at them at different times of day (colors can look much different in natural light than they do in artificial lighting). You may want to consider hiring a color consultant. Contact us for more information.
Which paint sheen should I use?
Paint sheens have an aesthetic purpose and a practical purpose. We will help you choose a sheen that best suits the amount of wear and tear the room will get. Generally, we use flats for ceilings; eggshell or satin for walls; satin or semi-gloss for woodwork. Most of our exterior projects are done with low sheen or satin to ensure more durability.
